Professional Learning Communities

Professional Learning is a major key in providing ALL teachers with the tools to develop an exemplary instructional environment. Professional learning has been embedded into the teacher's workday to create professional learning communities. All teachers throughout the system have been provided a common planning time each day so that they can collaboratively plan instruction as they review data and student work. Administrators, Central Office Staff, and Trainers meet with teams to provide support, follow-up, and specific training as needed.

Professional learning is also planned at the beginning and end of the school year, as well as throughout the year on scheduled half day Professional Learning Days.

Each year qualitative and quantitative data will be reviewed to support the planning for future professional learning in McIntosh County.

Professional Learning Topics for Implementation:

  • The Learning Focused School Model
  • Thinking Maps - A Language for Learners
  • Differentiation of Instruction
  • Six Elements of an Exemplary Math Lesson
  • Implementation of Georgia Performance Standards - Content Specific

Individual Schools also schedule and plan professional learning using teachers, consultants, district staff, etc. to facilitate specifically identified areas of needs throughout the year.
